Vienna Boys Choir

Went with my friend to see the Vienna Boys Choir tonight. I tell you what, those little boys put out some beautiful sounds. They were soooo cute, and very good.

They sang pieces from 5 centuries...16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th. The 20th century songs were modern pop songs, including 'Help' from the Beatles and a selection from ABBA, Queen and Sting.

There were a few boys that were my favorites. One was the smallest of the group...when he was really getting into the music he would nod his head up and down really fast in rhythm to the music. Another was the Japanese kid. He clapped like a robot, he was so stiff, but during the modern pop songs his head wagged around...the rest of his body wouldn't loosen though...

These kids travel 9-11 weeks of the year on tour. That is so hard to believe...I mean, that's a large chunk of the school year. There are 100 boys who are divided into 4 touring groups. We had the Mozartchor.

Most of the boys come out of the younger school program the Vienna Boys Choir has, which is comprised of about 250 students, both boys and girls, who get a full education but focus on music education. Kids from all over the world are in the program.

I am glad we went, it was a beautiful concert.

And they don't try and keep their voices high forever like they used to.
