What to do when creating a greeting for your voicemail or answering machine that people listen to before they leave YOU a message...
1. Do NOT start by saying any form of "hello"....especially with any sort of a pause after it...it makes the person on the other side sound really stupid because they start leaving a message and abruptly have to stop...
2. Read the instructions on how to make a greeting for the voicemail so that when you finish saying the greeting you can end it in a timely manner...it gets RATHER annoying if there is a 20 second pause after the greeting...
3. Don't have the TV on in the background...
4. Don't have music on in the background and attempt rapping, singing, or even rhythmicizing the greeting...it makes the greeting far longer than needed, and most of you are not professional musicians...
5. Don't have your kids do the greeting on your machine unless they can speak clearly enough to understand them...
6. If there is a part of the message where you are supposed to record your name, don't forget to say your name when instructed...otherwise the message is "We're sorry does not answer" instead of "We're sorry, John Smith does not answer"....
